Coventry: Update on potential return to Ricoh Arena

Coventry Live have provided a short update on the potential return for Coventry City to the Ricoh Arena.
The Sky Blues played their home games in the 2019/20 season at Birmingham City’s St Andrews Stadium in what was a successful promotion from League One to the Championship.
Their time away from the Ricoh Arena during the current season was their second in the past seven years for the club, having previously had a spell at Northampton Town’s Sixfields Stadium.
Having had such a successful campaign, talk has now emerged about a potential return to the city of Coventry, with club chairman Tim Fisher telling talkSPORT last month that the Midlands outfit had held “positive” talks with Wasps, the rugby club that owns the Ricoh Arena, about a potential return and ground-share.
With speculation now mounting, Coventry are said to have not been given a deadline to confirm to the English Football League about where they will play next season.
That has been followed by some recent comments made by the club’s chief executive officer David Boddy, who said it was “a priority” for the club to return home. The Ricoh Arena, which is based in the centre of Coventry has a maximum capacity of just over 32,000.
A return to Coventry should be a major fillip for the club’s supporters and it is only right that they now seem to have their own stadium rather than needing to rely on the goodwill of others.
If Mark Robins’ side can remain in the Championship beyond next season and return to the Ricoh Arena, the future could be a very bright one for the Sky Blues, as sharing with Birmingham simply does not feel quite right, with no disrespect to the St Andrew’s club.
