Sheffield United have set their sights on a move for Kilmarnock teenager Bobby Wales, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The Lowdown: Solid start

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have enjoyed a positive start to the season in the Championship, although they suffered a setback with a 1-0 defeat to QPR in the week.

The Blades top the second tier heading into this weekend’s fixtures and will be looking to get back to winning ways against Stoke City on Saturday.

It appears as if attentions are already turning to the January window, with Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah and CEO Stephen Bettis eyeing a move for a 17-year-old forward.

The Latest: Wales interest

O’Rourke shared a transfer update for Football Insider regarding Sheffield United and Wales on Thursday.

He revealed that the Blades are plotting a move for the forward, who is on the verge of breaking into Kilmarnock’s first team.

The report adds that Sheffield United scouts view Wales as a ‘potential star in the making’.

The Verdict: One to watch

It seems as if Blades scouts think very highly of Wales, who has scored eight goals in 12 games for Kilmarnock’s youth sides.

The player himself has described himself as a “fast, skilful, attacker”, and he could become the latest Scot to move to Yorkshire alongside the likes of John Fleck and Oliver McBurnie.

Wales’ current deal runs until 2024, though, so the Blades may have to write a fairly large compensation cheque for a player who is yet to earn any senior experience.
