West Bromwich Albion will look to sign a new striker on a free transfer after the arrival of Tom Rogic, according to Express & Star journalist Lewis Cox.

The Lowdown: Rogic set for West Brom move

On Friday, it emerged that the Baggies seem highly likely to acquire the signature of the Australian midfielder, who is currently without a club.

That means that Albion will be able to snap up the former Celtic ace on a free transfer, in what could end up being an influential piece of business.

According to a new update, though, that might not be Steve Bruce's last addition of 2022.

The Latest: New striker next?

Writing for The Express & Star, Cox claimed that West Brom's attention will turn to signing a striker once Rogic's arrival is confirmed.

It is stated that they will look to bring in an attacker who is 'unattached' as Bruce aims to steer his team slowly towards the top of the Championship after a slow start to the season.

The Verdict: Much-needed firepower

Bringing in a Rogic is a shrewd investment, given his pedigree for both Celtic and Australia (seven league titles, 51 caps), but signing a striker is arguably more important right now.

Daryl Dike's thigh injury has left Bruce worryingly short of genuine firepower, with Karlan Grant scoring three goals in eight league games this season and the Baggies often too reliant on his end product.

He netted 18 times last term, one more than Albion's next four highest scorers combined. (WhoScored)

If a striker doesn't come in, it is hard to see how West Brom will have the attacking options available to end up mounting a genuine promotion charge.
