West Brom were due to make the trip to Coventry City on Saturday afternoon but that game will now be rearranged later on in the season.

There is a chance that matches could continue to be cancelled up until the likely funeral date of Monday 19th September, although Baggies supporters may yet get to see their team in action before then.

There have been differing opinions on whether or not the weekend games should have been postponed, with some instead seeing it as a perfect chance for fans to have shown their respects for Queen Elizabeth II at stadia up and down the country.

While there is arguably some sense in the decision not to play the matches, it feels right that the midweek action should now go ahead, with life getting back to normal.

Other sports will take place as originally intended this weekend, from cricket to rugby union, so there seems to be little reason why football can't return in midweek and beyond.
