West Brom: Journalist excited by Tom Rogic rumour

West Brom: Journalist excited by Tom Rogic rumour -Championship News

West Bromwich Albion‘s potential signing of former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic would be an exciting one if it goes through, according to journalist Chris Lepkowski.

The Lowdown: West Brom close to Rogic signing

On Friday, it emerged that the Baggies were closing in on the signing of the 29-year-old, whose time as a Hoops player came to an end earlier this year.

Rogic enjoyed a superb spell at Celtic, winning numerous trophies and proving to be a crucial part of their midfield, making 272 appearances for the club.

It looks as though West Brom will snap up the out-of-contract Australian on a free transfer, as Steve Bruce aims to execute some much-needed business.

The Latest: Lepkowski reacts to Rogic news

Taking to Twitter, Lepkowski reacted positively to the news posted by The Telegraph’s John Percy, saying that Rogic would be a strong signing for West Brom.

He said of the 29-year-old:

“This would be a very interesting signing. Decent player, likes to get forward.”

Baggies fans, do you remember who scored your first goal of the 21/22 campaign?

The Verdict: Exciting addition for Baggies

Rogic is exactly what West Brom need in terms of a central midfielder who can dictate games, bringing poise and defensive quality in a deeper role. That’s not to say he can’t score goals himself either, with 46 coming his way at Celtic, along with 49 assists.

He is also adept at taking on opponents, his average of 1.6 dribbles per game the third-highest at Parkhead last season and better than what anyone has managed at The Hawthorns so far this term.

Happy with West Brom's window?

The likes of John Swift and Jed Wallace can provide ammunition further up the pitch while being ably accompanied by the former Celtic wizard, who was lauded for his “extra special qualities” by his ex-manager Ange Postecoglou last term.

Rogic could make a huge difference to the Baggies’ chances of rising up the Championship table, bringing with him vast experience and proven international pedigree, having won 51 caps for Australia.
