West Brom would like to believe they’re still one of the favourites to gain promotion this season and they certainly have the right group of players to do so.
The Baggies are the top goal-scorers in the Championship and that is a statement they need to hold on to, as it will help them gain promotion.
Indeed, goals are the way to winning any game of football and West Brom have obviously recognised that.
Continuing that fine record could well send Darren Moore’s side back up into the Premier League, albeit at the moment they may have to battle through the play-offs.
Nevertheless, signings need to be planned ahead of next and with no cost apart from his contract, Andy Carroll could be a great option in the top flight or Championship.
Carroll, (who is valued at £7.2 million on Transfermarkt) is out-of-contract with West Ham this summer and due to his injury record with the Hammers, it’s unlikely he will get a new deal.
Everyone is aware of the baggage that Andy Carroll brings and the amount of injuries he’s had throughout his career but they also know what a handful he is on his day.
Carroll is, without doubt, one of England’s most deadly players in the air and when playing at full fitness, he is a defender’s worst nightmare.
West Brom and many other sides don’t have a player quite like Andy Carroll, so that’s why it would be so handy and worth the risk to acquire him.
Both Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez are more creative, goal-scoring players but because of how Carroll operates, he is able to present his team-mates as many chances as he would for himself. With Salomon Rondon’s future uncertain, the former Newcastle man can be an ideal replacement for the man currently leading the Magpies’ line.
