Aston Villa have been rather inconsistent so far this season as they often produce a positive performance and then throw it all away in their next game.
The Villains haven’t managed to secure a win in their last four Championship fixtures as they continue to slide down the table after an impressive start. Indeed, Steve Bruce just hasn’t been able to rally his troops in recent times as a number of summer signings are still yet to reach top gear.
It’s important that the Englishman can identify his best XI and that they can consistently produce results, with a number of sides fighting for a promotion place.
Therefore, in an ideal world where injuries aren’t a problem and the race for promotion is hotting up, here’s an idea of what Bruce’s amazing XI should look like…
ASTON VILLA’S AMAZING XI
We’ve gone with a 4-4-1-1 formation, as that is the formation that Bruce has made use of so far this season, with a full-strength side thriving off this set up.
Orjan Nyland has been impressive since joining the club this summer, despite letting in a number of goals due to defensive errors at times.
Axel Tuanzebe should be shifted into the middle of the defence alongside James Chester as Mile Jedinak struggled to ensure solidity recently in that particular position. Indeed, Alan Hutton will operate on the right-hand side as a right-footed player, while Neil Taylor should be drafted into the starting lineup.
In midfield, Yannick Bolasie will be crucial to Villa’s chances of securing promotion as one of the more experienced and established players in the side, with the forever-reliable Albert Adomah causing trouble on the opposite side. Meanwhile, Mile Jedinak should enjoy regular minutes back in his preferred position in the middle of midfield, with summer signing John McGinn looking to continue his fine form.
Lastly, Jack Grealish is one of the best players in the Championship and arguably deserves a move to a Premier League club, so he will be crucial to their promotion chances this season. And, Jonathan Kodjia has already found his feet in the current campaign, which means that he will keep his place.
