Aston Villa have enjoyed a brilliant start to the season with 8 points from their opening 6 fixtures enabling them to climb into 5th place ahead of match-day 5.
Villa’s unbeaten start to the season has given the supporters plenty of hope that another promotion bid could be on the cards this season. Their strong opening is certainly a positive indicator of their credentials to finish inside the top-six this season, and their recent activity in the transfer market has also served to boost those credentials.
Indeed, Villa recently welcome 23-year-old winger Anwar El Ghazi to the club on a season-long loan deal despite reported interest from Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United whom worked alongside him during his stint as Lille manager.
And despite only arriving at the club on Wednesday, El Ghazi could be set to feature against Reading tomorrow afternoon according to a report from Birmingham Live.
The report details quotes from Bruce who has claimed “If we get international clearance he will be involved.”
It’s clear from Bruce’s tone that he is eager to get the recent recruit involved as soon as possible to freshen things up in Villa’s attack.
Considering El Ghazi finished the previous campaign with a very respectable record in Ligue 1 after scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists from just 19 starts, there’s no doubt that the Villa supporters will be excited to see the winger in action.
Whilst it’s unlikely that El Ghazi will start the game, Bruce’s admission suggests that he will be brought on as a substitute at the very least, so he will have a golden opportunity to instantly win over the supporters by making an impact on his debut.
All the Villa supporters can do now is hope he is afforded international clearance in time for the 3PM clash at Villa Park.
