Today is certainly not a dull day in the Football Transfer Tavern as The Sun claim that Aston Villa star Christian Benteke is set to reject a move away from the club with Arsenal and Tottenham having been keen.
The 23-year-old has been a beacon of hope this season for the struggling side and many thought that his performances had been enough to earn him a move away from the struggling club. Now it seems that the forward is ready to commit to the young Villa side and pledge his future to helping Paul Lambert.
The forward only cost £7 million from Standard Liege when he was bought by Lambert and would be worth a considerable amount more now. The Belgium international has claimed he will stay at the club however noting that: “I have to give back to him (lambert) what he has given me,’ said Benteke.
“Since I was young it was my dream to come here and play in the Premier League.”
Villa have been in a relegation scrap for most of the season yet look to have played their way out of it as the latter stages of the campaign approach and it could well be this that has swayed the forward’s mind into staying at least for the near future.
Is Benteke set to stay at Villa Park this summer? Would you want him at Spurs or Arsenal? Rate this rumour below.
