Aston Villa fans inside the Tavern today have been waxing lyrical over ex-Chelsea man John Terry as the 37-year-old has helped the club to a position where they can start pushing for an automatic promotion slot in England’s second tier.
John Terry will forever be associated with Chelsea Football Club as he spent his entire career with the club, barring a short loan at Nottingham Forest towards the end of the 1999/00 season, until being released in summer last year. Upon his release, Terry was quickly snapped up by Steve Bruce at Aston Villa and since signing he hasn’t looked back, helping the Villains to third in the Championship and only four points off of Cardiff in the automatic promotion places.
JT’s leadership on and off the pitch has no doubt been a big factor to the Birmingham-based club’s success this season and fans all over the country will be hoping that Terry will stay at Villa even if they are promoted back to the Premier League next season, despite Terry publicly saying he won’t play for a side that would have to face his old team in Chelsea.
For now though, Villa fans are just happy at the contribution of Chelsea’s former captain, leader, legend and will be hoping to reinstate Villa Park as a top-flight ground for next season.
Having said all that, here’s a look at the reaction to the club posting a photo of the former England skipper.
he has proved himself to be very committed. A true leader and captain
