Aston Villa had bid well in excess of £5 million reject for Scott McKenna

Aston Villa have suffered a dip in form recently as they appear to be losing their way under Steve Bruce at Villa Park.

The Villains secured the services of Tammy Abraham yesterday to highlight the club’s ambition as they chase promotion to the Premier League. However, they did fail in their attempts to secure a different target, as according to the Daily Record, Aston Villa had a bid well in excess of £5 million for Scott McKenna rejected by Aberdeen.

Interestingly, Aston Villa have had a bid believed to be well in excess of £5 million for central defender Scott McKenna rejected by Aberdeen.

It’s understood the Midlands club wanted to land the Scotland defender on loan before signing McKenna on a permanent deal in January.

But, Aberdeen boss Derek Mcinnes has repeatedly insisted that the defender isn’t for sale, and he kept his word.

THE VERDICT:

Aston Villa will be gutted that they failed to secure the services of Scott McKenna as the Villains have had to deploy Mile Jedinak at the heart of the defence at times this season.

Indeed, Steve Bruce has failed to bring in a replacement for the impressive John Terry after missing out on the Aberdeen defender, so he’ll have to rely on the versatility of some of his players until January.

However, the Villains find themselves in a promising position to secure promotion to the Premier League despite yesterday’s setback.
