Dean Smith could look to add a goalkeeper to his Aston Villa squad this winter as there are doubts about their current shot-stopper.
Orjan Nyland has not covered himself in any glory for the Villans with some of his performances, whilst Andre Moreira does not have appeared to have done enough to dislodge him from his position.
That has led to rumours that Smith could look to the transfer window to try and bring his own goalkeeper to Villa Park, and a proven Championship number one has emerged on his list of possible targets.
The 28-year-old has become frustrated with his position at the Premier League side and could look to leave after losing his place to Martin Dubravka in the starting line-up.
However, the Villans will have competition for the £4.05million-rated ‘keeper, as per Transfermarkt, with Leeds United also thought to be interested in the out-of-favour man.
If Villa are to continue to their charge for promotion to the Premier League, either Nyland will need to improve quickly or Smith will need to find a replacement in January.
Darlow could be a great option for the Midlands outfit to consider as the ‘keeper is extremely experienced at the Championship level and helped Newcastle win the division in the 2016/17 campaign.
However, it remains to be seen if Rafa Benitez will let Darlow go, with doubts over the other goalkeepers he currently has at St. James’ Park.
