Aston Villa poised to sign Orjan Nyland

Aston Villa could be about to make their second signing of the summer as they look to rebuild their side.

The Villans just missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season when they were beaten by Fulham in the Championship Play-Off final.

That defeat, however, meant a number of players would not remain at Villa Park and Steve Bruce’s side had to endure a frustrating summer where they suffered from financial concerns for a period of time, as reported by the Birmingham Mail.

One man that had departed was Sam Johnstone, who returned to Manchester United before being sold to West Bromwich Albion and Villa have been working hard to replace him.

Atletico Madrid’s Andre Moreira joined the club on a season-long loan, however, according to a report by The Express and Star, another shot-stopper could be on his way to the Midlands.

The media outlet claims that FC Ingolstadt’s Orjan Nyland could be about to complete an imminent switch to Aston Villa after talks with the 27-year-old were thought to be successful over the weekend.

The Verdict:

The Norway international would be a welcomed addition to Aston Villa this summer as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options.

He has experience of playing at a top level of the game and appeared for Ingolstadt in the Bundesliga and would likely become the new number one for the club should he join.

Nyland could be confirmed as a Villa player later today, although it will be too late for him to be in action as they take on Hull City on Monday night in their Championship opener.
