Aston Villa look like they are turning things round somewhat under new manager Dean Smith, although a mid-week loss against a Jordan Rhodes inspired Norwich put a dent in their early form under the new manager.
Villa will be hoping to put that result to bed this weekend, when at the time of writing, they were preparing for a tricky away tie at QPR in the Friday night game live on Sky.
One thing Smith will be looking to do is get the best out of what is a seriously talented bunch of players on the books at Villa Park, and one of the key players at the moment who will hope to continue impressing is young striker Tammy Abraham.
The Chelsea youngster is looking like he is getting into his groove, and one man we at the Tavern think they should look to partner him with is current Brentford striker Neal Maupay, who will be well known to the new Villa manager Smith.
Valued at £4.5m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman has already rattled in 11 goals this term as he tries to drive the Bees towards promotion to the Premier League.
However, with such spending power at Villa Park, Maupay is a realistic signing for the Villans, and if Smith could convince his former strike ace to reunited with him at Villa Park, it could well be the ideal signing for the Midlands club come January.
Quick, strong, and an excellent finisher, Maupay would be superb at Villa Park alongside the impressive Abraham.
Villa fans, what do you think? Would Maupay be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
