Aston Villa will welcome West Bromwich Albion to Villa Park on Saturday as the two teams meet in the West Midlands derby.
Dean Smith will want to see a reaction from his side following their late defeat to former club Brentford in mid-week.
West Brom have been flying high near the top of the Championship this season and appear to be genuine promotion contenders, which will make the derby game even more challenging for The Villans.
However, to make matters worse for the hosts, they may have been handed a potentially huge double injury blow in the lead up to the game.
According to a match preview by the club’s official website, both James Chester and Tom Carroll remain unavailable.
Chester continues to struggle with his knee injury and has had an injection to try and overcome the problem for the remainder of the Championship season.
Carroll, who joined the club on loan from Swansea City on Deadline Day, has missed the last two games with a muscle strain and will sit out of the derby.
Axel Tuanzebe (foot), Jack Grealish (shin), Henri Lansbury (hamstring) and Orjan Nyland (Achilles) all remain out on the sidelines, per Sky Sports.
As mentioned Smith will want to see an immediate reaction from his side and the West Midlands derby could be the ideal opportunity for his players to provide one.
However, the match will be far from easy and their task will have been made difficult with both Chester and Carroll still on the sidelines.
Three points for Aston Villa will be huge, as it will keep their playoff aspirations alive, although a defeat for The Villans could be costly.
