Aston Villa unable to offload Henri Lansbury as he is too expensive

Aston Villa are in a position where they need to offload a number of their star players in order to balance the books.

The Villans are currently suffering from the fallout of the Financial Fair Play regulations following their defeat to Fulham in the Play-Off final.

Steve Bruce would have been keen to keep a number of his team together, however, the crisis at the club is so severe, that a number of clubs have been lining up for their stars in an attempt to cash in on the Villa Park outfit’s issues.

Jack Grealish has been linked with a Premier League switch to Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Jonathan Kodjia and James Chester have both been rumoured with moves to other Championship sides and Mile Jedinak and Birkir Bjarnason are another duo that could be on the move.

However, according to a report in the Daily Mirror, one man that may benefit from the problems at the Villans is Henri Lansbury, but only because Aston Villa cannot offload him.

The club are desperate to get him off their wage bill, with him earning wages in the region of £40,000 a week, however, no one is interested in taking the former Nottingham Forest player of their books.

The Verdict:

It is quite the fall from grace for the former Arsenal graduate as he was once touted as a possible star of the future during the early stages of his career.

However, he could use the concerns surrounding the club to his advantage, as he could look to establish himself in the first-team once again and resurrect his career at Villa Park.

He made just ten Championship appearances last season, with six as a starter, and has so far failed to make the kind of impact he did at the City Ground which brought him to Aston Villa in the first place.
