Aston Villa have been poor as of late but their promotion hopes still remain in the balance. Whether they will get promoted to the Premier League is a question no one yet knows the answer to but Villa fans here at the Tavern are hoping for quality recruitments in the summer to make this happen.
Having beaten league-leaders Wolves 4-1, optimism was as high as it’s ever been at Villa Park but following that dominating victory was two below-par performances which resulted in a total of zero points.
Aston Villa will have to quickly turn around their fortunes if they are to stay within contention of returning to the Premier League. Amid the success of recruiting former Premier League players, (John Terry and Robert Snodgrass) the Villans should deploy this method again this summer and eye a move for Kevin Mirallas, who is currently on loan at Olympiacos from Everton.
Mirallas, who is valued at £9.00 million on Transfermarkt, had been a solid player in the Premier League for a number of years but ever since the chopping and changing of managers occurred at Goodison Park, Mirallas saw his future prospects at Everton looking bleak and decided to force a move to his former team.
The loan spell and Mirallas’ season haven’t been one to remember following only a single goal and two assists thus far but our punters are keen to remember the 2013/14 season, where the Belgian grabbed eight goals and 11 assists for a high-flying Everton side at the time.
Whether he could transfer his form of old for a move to Aston Villa or not, we still think the 30-year-old acquires several distinct qualities to make him a viable purchase if they are to return to the Premier League.
