The Aston Villa supporters in the Transfer Tavern are lining up for another round following this transfer announcement.
As the Birmingham Mail reports, Andre Green has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay to 2020. The youngster made 15 appearances for the Villains in the Championship last season, and he also scored his first goal for the club this term.
Green hasn’t been present for Steve Bruce’s side over the duration of the past two months. The promising winger suffered a hamstring injury in the FA Cup against Peterborough United. However, the club are hopeful that Green will return to action next month.
He is highly regarded by the club as a player for the future, so you can imagine the delight amongst our resident Villians today. Hopefully, the youngster can help their promotion charge later this season, as well as potentially develop in the Premier League should the Midlands giants make a return at the second time of asking.
Having an established group of young players is always favourable for a club’s development. Aston Villa have done very well to secure the immediate future of one of their brightest prospects. It’ll be interesting to see how his career develops, especially if Villa return to the Premier League.
