Jack Grealish to sign new deal

Aston Villa made a great start to their Championship campaign as they beat Hull City 3-1 away from home, and they’ll be looking for a repeat later on today.

Indeed, the Villains will welcome Wigan Atheltic to Villa Park later on today in what will be a tough encounter for Steve Bruce’s side. Although, the Villa boss did provide a positive update for supporters recently, as according to the Daily Star, Bruce has predicted that Jack Grealish will sign a new deal within a week.

The Englishman is still dusting himself off after seeing the club block a £25 million move to Premier League side Tottenham.

But, Villa boss Bruce says the 22-year-old is ready to throw his weight behind Villa’s push for promotion and put pen to paper on a double-your-money £40,000-a-week contract.

Here’s what the 57-year-old had to say:

“We’ve got to look after him. From what I gather from the owner, whatever he says he sticks to it.

“Jack’s disappointed which is understandable but let’s let the rawness disappear and move on.”

THE VERDICT:

So, it’s exciting times for supporters as Steve Bruce believes that the young midfielder will sign a new deal within a week. Indeed, the Englishman was one of the standout performers last season and arguably deserved a move to the Premier League, but he will now have to get his head down and focus on helping Villa climb up the Championship table despite his transfer setback.

Aston Villa could go one better this season as they still have their main man at the club, so there’s no reason as to why they can’t challenge for automatic promotion.
