James Chester happy to stay at Aston Villa

Things appear to be getting better at Aston Villa as each day passes following the arrival of new majority shareholders.

The Villans have been taken over by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens as the pair bought a controlling majority from Dr Tony Xia and have injected the necessary funds to help ease the financial pressure at the Championship club.

Villa are expected to continue to offload a number of talented stars as they look to reduce their wage bill and fall in line with Financial Fair Play regulations, however, one man has revealed that he would prefer to stay at Villa Park.

According to a report in The Daily Mail, James Chester is ready to snub a move to Stoke City as he wants to remain at Aston Villa and help them with their promotion efforts instead of their Championship rivals.

It is understood the Potters have made an offer worth up to around £10million for the Wales international, however, the club’s captain is determined to stay where he is.

The Verdict:

The news that Chester wants to remain at the club is great news for Aston Villa.

The defender was influential in their efforts to get to the Championship Play-Off final last season and will be crucial to their efforts once again this summer.

It will also be a huge boost to the squad, as they have already lost John Terry and appear to be on the verge of losing a number of other talented stars this summer.
