Aston Villa haven’t enjoyed the best of times under Dean Smith as their promotion hopes appear to be slipping away, with the teams above them picking up points.
The Villains have a very strong squad and the correct manager at the helm to take them forward, but consistency has already been an issue since Smith took over.
Indeed, the Englishman is still yet to get the best out of a couple of his first team members, with a lack of contributions and quality performances continuing halt his side’s progress. And, if the players don’t seek improvements in the near future then they could be on their way out in January.
So, these TWO Aston Villa players must start performing under Smith…

Indeed, the attacking midfielder has the quality to single-handedly win games for the Villains in the Championship, so Smith and John Terry will be desperate to unlock all of his talents as soon as possible.
Jonathan Kodjia has been able to provide a consistent goal flow for the Villains over the past couple of seasons, but the introduction of Tammy Abraham has really halted his progress in the claret and blue.
The Ivory Coast international has had to live life on the substitutes’ bench under Dean Smith so far, with his limited minutes on the field not warranting a starting place just yet.
However, it’s vital that the Midlands club can get the best out of the striker as he has the ability to fire them back into play-off contention.
