Leeds eyeing up possible move for Jonathan Kodjia

Leeds United have endured a rather frustrating transfer window this summer and have been finding it difficult to seal a number of deals for their main transfer targets.

Marcelo Bielsa would have been hoping to have had some, if not all, of his main targets already at the club, however, the Whites have struggled to get them over the line.

That has led to the Argentine boss to consider other possible options and it appears that he has identified a different striker to lead the line at Elland Road in their quest for promotion to the Premier League.

According to a report in the Express and Star, Leeds are eyeing up a move for Aston Villa ace Jonathan Kodjia, with Steve Bruce admitting he may have to sell his star man to help ease their financial pressures.

The Whites are on the lookout for a prolific goalscorer to help their aims of achieving promotion to the top-flight and have seen possible moves for Matej Vydra and Abel Hernandez go wayward.

The Verdict:

Kodjia would be a smart signing for Leeds to make this summer, although they will have a number of competitors for the Ivorian’s signature.

The African striker has a proven record, despite his injury nightmare last season, in the Championship and would offer the Whites a huge attacking threat going forward.

With Villa’s need to offload players, they could be able to convince their division rivals to part with him for a smaller fee than they were prepared to pay for their other targets.
