Levy Offers Incredible £15M Bundle Deal To Alex McLeish

Alex McLeish has been offered a bundle deal by Harry Redknapp for a cut price of £15m.

Aston Villa have had a steady pre-season with an early managerial appointment allowing decent settling in time. The outgoing transfers of Stewart Downing to Liverpool and Ashley Young to Manchester United were expected and so did not cause shockwaves through the Villa camp and the additions of Shay Given and Charles N’Zogbia have helped ease the pain.

However, it is still abundantly obvious that Villa’s squad is on the small side. Many fans are voicing their concerns that should an injury occur to Marc Albrighton or Charles N’Zogbia the Villa squad would be left seriously depleted on the wings. There are players in the squad, such as Barry Bannan and Stephen Ireland, who are capable of filling in on the wing but for a team aiming to improve upon a 9th place finish last term this squad depth is simply not good enough.

Harry Redknapp has offered Alex McLeish several players in order to trim his own wage bill and raise funds for a landmark striker. The players in question are Peter Crouch, Jermaine Jenas, Alan Hutton and David Bentley.

While McLeish has apparently flat-out refused to even consider buying David Bentley, the offer is there to be taken for the first 3 players.

There are certainly a few sticking points in this deal. The player’s names in question have been linked to Aston Villa for a long time now. The general consensus is not overwhelmingly supportive of the potential recruits either. Hutton looks good going forward but lacks defensive ability, Jenas isn’t the most eye-popping midfielder and Crouch has never been too popular with any sets of fans despite his decent goal scoring record, especially concerning England.

A return to Villa Park for Crouch may not be the most appetising thought for Villa fans as he somewhat failed to impress in his last tenure in B6.

What would your reaction be if Villa made this triple swoop? How likely is it since it doesn’t seem McLeish has £15m to spare?
