Aston Villa are looking to become a greater firepower under the guidance of Dean Smith and with the upcoming transfer window, they soon could be.
It’s no secret that the Villans have struggled so far this campaign and that has largely been down to a poor defence.
With Aston Villa struggling with a depleted back-line, The Birmingham Mail are reporting that they want to amend that sticky situation by loaning Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu in January.
It’s already known that the Villains will not be the only ones targeting the Welsh international, with Frank Lampard also keen on bringing him to Derby.
If Aston Villa do come out victorious though, what could this mean for the club…
John Terry beats Lampard
With two Chelsea legends now in managerial roles of power, it’s no surprise they’re turning to the talented Chelsea youth system to improve their respective teams.
John Terry, one of the coaching staff at Aston Villa, could be persuasive in allowing Ethan Ampadu to join Villa and what a move it could be.
Despite the fact Ampadu is set to make his senior debut under Maurizio Sarri, his quality is already there for all to see when he has previously played for club and country.
Much tighter defence
Whether they keep or revert to a different system in defence, Ethan Ampadu will be a vital addition that tightens their backline.
Axel Tuanzebe has been in great form whilst James Chester is slowly getting back to his best, meaning right now it would be hard for Ampadu to walk into the starting line-up.
But with the ability to play as a defensive-midfielder as well as a centre-back, the 18-year-old is bound to be important at some point during a strenuous Championship season.
