Aston Villa will be delighted with their recent form, form that has led to Dean Smith’s side being dubbed as promotion hopefuls once again.
The Villans made the bold decision to empower Dean Smith when taking over from Steve Bruce and since then, the club has gone from strength to strength.
Squad depth will still be an alarming issue for the club though, seeing as Smith has had no opportunity thus far to strengthen his resources.
Although not the marquee signing every Aston Villa fan wants to see, the club should look at Brighton left-back Markus Suttner, seeing as boss Chris Hughton is open to him and a few other fringe players leaving the Premier League side.
Suttner, who is valued at £2.2 million on Transfermarkt, has played just one game for Brighton this season, which really demonstrates how unwanted he has become.
The 31-year-old was signed last summer from German side Ingolstadt and made 14 Premier League appearances as Chris Hughton saw the quality and mainly experience that he had.
Now though, his future with the Seagulls is extremely bleak and it doesn’t seem likely he will earn a place back in the side.
With the opportunity to be a rotational option behind Neil Taylor, Markus Suttner could have the platform to show what he is all about.
Aston Villa are hoping to get back into the Premier League and as well as having tricky players and goal-scorers, the Villans need professional, experienced players who will always put a shift in.
The Austrian international has what it takes to strengthen Villa’s backline and it could really be a good move for all involved.
