Aston Villa managed to secure a late victory against Wigan Athletic at Villa Park yesterday as Steve Bruce’s men made it two wins out of two.
The Villains will be hoping to go one better than the last campaign after missing out on promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs. Although, he has turned his attention to offloading two of Villa’s unwanted talent, as according to the Sun on Sunday (12/08; page 65) (via HITC), Steve Bruce has asked Aston Villa owners to look to release both Ross McCormack and Micah Richards from their contracts with the club.
Micah Richards signed for Villa in 2015, but has made just 26 league appearances for the side and has not played a competitive minute for the team since Steve Bruce’s first game in charge.
Meanwhile, Ross McCormack has arguably been an even more underwhelming signing, scoring just three league goals for the club and did not appear once in the league last season.
And, it’s believed that Bruce has now asked the owners to pay the pair off and release them from their contracts.
So, it looks as if Steve Bruce is trying to offload a couple of Villa’s unwanted players by getting the owners to pay them off and release them from their contracts.
Indeed, both players haven’t had a positive impact on proceedings since making their way to Villa Park, so it comes as no surprise that the Aston Villa boss is looking to get rid of them.
