Aston Villa continue to defy expectations in their pursuit of an automatic promotion place as any memories of financial trouble are now forgotten.
The Villains find themselves in a great position to achieve their promotion targets after a rather successful summer transfer window. Indeed, the Midlands club have been completely redefined under Steve Bruce this season after suffering heartbreak in the play-off final during the last campaign.
Although, Villa will travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United later on today in what will be a tough encounter for the Villains. The Blades haven’t exactly enjoyed the rub of the green so far this season, but they do always manage to put on a show in front of their home supporters.
So, having taken Bruce’s selections from recent games into consideration, we’ve come up with a team that the Englishman could line up with against Sheffield United.

ASTON VILLA’S POTENTIAL TEAM VS SHEFFIELD UNITED
We’ve gone with a 4-4-1-1 formation, as that is the formation that Villa have enjoyed huge success from so far this season. Indeed, the attacking midfielder often creates the attacks and is the spearhead of anything positive for the Villains, while the midfield four work backwards and forwards to help out in many different areas.
Oliver Nyland has already shown exactly why he was brought to the club this summer, with a number of impressive performances already under his belt.
In defence, Bruce will put his trust in Mile Jedinak and James Chester once again as two experienced and accomplished performers. Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Axel Tuanzebe and Alan Hutton will operate on either side of the defence.
Albert Adomah always delivers the goods for Aston Villa on the left-hand side, while Ahmed El Mohamady will look to deliver balls into the box on the opposite flank. In the middle of the park will be Glenn Whelan and Conor Hourihane, who will both be looking to make the most of minutes in the side.
Lastly, summer signing Anwar El Ghazi will operate behind the lone striker having impressed since making the move to Villa Park recently. And, Jonathan Kodjia will be tasked with leading the line for Aston Villa once again having notched a number of goals already this season.
