Yannick Bolasie was a man possessed last night. The tricky winger has shown plenty of times now that he is a class above when it comes to the Championship and it’s almost not fair to see him tearing teams apart for The Villains when he does take to the pitch. Last night was no different as the on-loan Everton man grabbed an assist in his side’s 3-0 demolition of Tony Pulis’ Boro.

Bolasie’s form this season has been nothing short of sublime. The Congolese winger has trickery in abundance and when he isolates his full-back one ve one, the Villa fans know that they’re in for a treat. So far, though, for the 29-year-old, a starting spot has been elusive. In his 13 appearances in the Championship, only two of them have been as a starter, yesterday’s clash with Boro and the mid-week thriller against Nottingham Forest that finished 5-5.
In Bolasie’s two starts this season he’s contributed three assists, add that to the three goals he’s also bagged himself from the bench and it’s fair to say that the Everton man is making his presence known in Birmingham. If he can continue adding end product both from the bench and when he’s chosen by Dean Smith to start then the Villains will have a great crack at promotion this season, and could well look to prise the winger from Marco Silva in the summer.

You were immense Yannick. Driving at players and putting in quality deliveries. Beautiful to see.
