Wesley Said exactly the type of signing to keep Aston Villa relevant in the Championship

Aston Villa have recently confirmed that Steve Bruce will stay on as manager and the Englishman will hope the new investment in the club will free up some funds for him to spend this window.

Having agonisingly missed out on promotion in the play-off final last season, Aston Villa are trying to build again a team that has the potential to be challenging for a top flight return. They spent a lot on talented players last summer but that cannot be said for this window, so bringing someone like Wesley Said in, could provide great value for money.

Said, who is valued at £5.4 million on Transfermarkt, has been playing his football with Dijon in the French Ligue 1 and after his debut season with the club, his performances show that he has the potential to be a great player in the Championship with Aston Villa.

After making 29 appearances and 20 starts for the French outfit, Said scored 9 goals and further provided four assists for his team-mates. The 23-year-old has the ability to play anywhere across the frontline, from either side of the wing, to an attacking midfielder or even the main centre-forward.

Aston Villa are solely reliant on goal-scorers Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan to keep supplying the goods for Steve Bruce and his team, so a welcomed third forward that can play anywhere required by the English manager would be a sensible idea to take the pressure off the others and would be a good way of bidding for a top flight return. They need to add a threat back into their side and Wesley Said is showing the perfect potential to do just that.
