Nottingham Forest remain well in the race for promotion, which could see them back in the top flight for the first time since 1993.
After an upturn in form, Martin O’Neill can be hopeful of putting a misfiring start behind him as he focuses on trying to get his beloved Nottingham Forest back where they belong.
For too long – season after season – they have missed out on a return but with the current group of players they have now pulling together, anything could be possible.
There is still a lot of work that needs to be done and regardless of whether they get promoted or not, they need to start thinking about summer business.
With their defence possible to improve, it could be argued that Nottingham Forest should turn to Watford and ask to loan Ben Wilmot, a youngster who could thrive with regular game-time.
Wilmot, (who is valued at £1.3 million on Transfermarkt) is currently out on-loan in Italy with Udinese but is yet to make it on the pitch, instead settling for time on the bench.
For a highly-rated youngster, that will be disheartening for him especially as he was dubbed with great things just less than a year ago.
Watford beat a host of top clubs to the signature of Ben Wilmot, after many were watching the 19-year-old extremely closely.
He was called-up to England’s U19 squad after playing just ten times for Stevenage in League Two, a testament to the quality he has.
So with that in mind, Nottingham Forest should look at Ben Wilmot as not only a bright, young English talent but also as someone who could step in right now and make a difference to their defence.
