Birmingham City confirmed on their official website that 20-year-old Charlie Lakin has joined Stevenage on loan.
The midfielder will spend the entire 2019/20 season at Broadhall Way unless Blues activate their option to bring him back to Birmingham in January.
Lakin made his Birmingham first-team debut in 2018 when he came on for the final 17 minutes of a 2-0 FA Cup loss against Reading, as per Transfermarkt.
He has made a total of 13 appearances for Blues, accumulating 563 minutes, but is yet to get his first goal or assist for the club.
His first-ever start came during the 2018/19 campaign when he played 89 minutes during a 0-0 draw against Sheffield United.
The youngster has only managed one appearance so far this campaign, which came as he featured for the whole 90 minutes of Blues’ 3-0 FA Cup loss against Portsmouth.
This is a big opportunity for Lakin, as it is his first loan move away from St. Andrew’s, which may allow him to have a far more prominent role in the side he is playing for.
Stevenage are struggling so far this campaign, having got just one point from four games. so it should be a test for him to help the club turn their early-season form around.
Lakin should see this move as a massive chance to show the club what he can do.
