It would appear many of the Birmingham City faithful do not want to see Pep Clotet use both Lukas Jutkiewicz and Alvaro Gimenez in the same side moving forward.
Despite the Blues managing to come from a goal behind to take a point against Millwall at St. Andrews on Saturday afternoon (BBC), a lot of the fanbase on social media took to Twitter after the conclusion of the game to lament the forward combination.
A plethora of supporters had stated that they did not feel that it was a partnership that was working, with many suggesting that a striker may have to be brought in once the January transfer window opens.
Indeed, when looking at the individual data for each player via WhoScored, both men were largely ineffective in the final third of the pitch and it is hardly a surprise there is some concern from those in the stands.
Jutkiewicz managed to take just two shots, whilst Gimenez only managed the one – with neither individual creating much more.
Many of the supporters called for Clotet to make a change to the way he sets his team up in the future and do not want to see that particular pairing again.
Here are just some of their reactions…
Juke and Gimenez can’t play together and how Pep can’t see that makes me question him tactically.
Villalba looks lost.
Montero and Bela should be starting.
Desperate for striker.
JCS looks our best CB.
Trueman looks more assured than Camp.#BCFC

Tight hamstring apparently mate
Juke/Giminez cant play as a pair

4-2-3-1 from now on, Crowley on the right, Bela on the left, Villalba playing off Juke or Gimenez till January when we get a striker. Villalba isn’t direct enough as a winger, plus Crowley has a better delivery than him. #BCFC

@CJTrueman magnificent last 3 games. Would be harsh to bring in another goalkeeper in January now. Can’t ever start with Juke and Alvaro again. Too rigid. System was wrong today. Played into Millwall’s hands. Need 2 forwards in January. Need a win at Reading next week. #bcfc

I like the look of Gimenez but with him and Juke they 100% need a striker running off them, can’t play two ‘target’ men from the start and expect us to play nice attractive football’

#BCFC juke and Gimanez don’t work together. Both should have scored today. Jude looked quality jcs was great today. Definitely a penalty. Need a clinical striker in January that’s is what we are missing. Trueman was great 2 big saves today.

Keep trueman. Doing a sterling job. We need a striker because juke and Gimenez are too similar. Sacking pep solves nothing

Back pep all the way but we have to stop going back to trying giminez and juke it just don’t work at all it will come though #BCFC

Should never have started with Juke and Alvaro up front together.
Roberts will be a huge miss to us.
JCS is class.
Trueman levels ahead of Camp in ability and reading the game. #bcfc

Couple things to note from today:
– Trueman is a big uprade on Camp
– Clarke-Salter is our best CB
– Juke and Gimenez way too similar and either should start not both
