Birmingham City: Many fans love Alvaro Gimenez’s passion for the club

Alvaro Gimenez scored during his first home game for Birmingham City, as Blues beat Barnsley 2-0.
The Spaniard got on the end of a brilliant ball from Steve Seddon, chested it down and lifted the ball over the onrushing goalkeeper.
Judging by the ensuing celebration it’s pretty safe to say he enjoyed it, taking to Twitter to mark it following the game:

This match highlighted his clinical edge, as his goal came from his only shot of the game, as per WhoScored.
The 28-year-old also worked hard defensively, making two interceptions, one clearance and attempting two tackles.
He was eventually brought off in the 80th minute and replaced by Jefferson Montero, who was making his debut and also had an impact on the club’s supporters.
This was only Gimenez’s second appearance for Blues, after coming off the bench for the final 31 minutes against Nottingham Forest, but it seems as though he is already becoming a popular figure amongst the supporters.
A selection of Twitter reaction to his celebrations, including posts from adoring Birmingham fans, can be seen below:
