Birmingham City’s slump in form continued yesterday afternoon in the Sky Bet Championship as they kicked off 2020 with a loss to Wigan Athletic at St Andrew’s.
It’s been a while since the Blues enjoyed a victory and there is evidently work for them to do before they can say they’re not going to get dragged into a relegation scrap.
They have some decent players that can get them out of trouble but they need to find a plan that works and stick to it.
Playing Kerim Mrabti might well be part of any such plan, too, with the player earning praise on social media last night despite the defeat and some fans wondering why it’s been so long for Pep Clotet to really get him involved in the side.
The player was one of the Blues’ better performers yesterday as the club fell to a defeat against the Latics and this is what was said on Twitter about it all:
Mrabti and Bela the only two good players. Wonder what Pep is saying now about Mrabti’s end product? #bcfc

Have to win this now. Mrabti showing some real quality with that goal, it’s mental he was left out for so long.

Kerim Mrabti, Jude Bellingham, Harlee Dean, Kristian Pederson, lukas jutkiewicz, Jeremie Bela, Josh mceachron, Jefferson Montero and Jaques Maghoma all had an ok-good game. I know I have criticised jaques maghoma in the past but today he had a decent game. pic.twitter.com/bV22Yf7vT3

Mrabti simply has to be the first name in the #bcfc line-up going forward. Guy has so much quality and puts in so much effort, it's mental he was frozen out for so long

Mrabti dropped for the next 6 games now? #bcfc
