Yesterday saw Bristol City’s incredible run of form in 2019 take a hit. Ashton Gate suffered its first loss of the calendar year yesterday when Wolves won 1-0 in the FA Cup to advance to the quarter-finals of the competition, although Bristol City certainly didn’t make it easy, with John Brownhill in particular starring in the tie.

Last summer saw the Robins lose Bobby Reid Aden Flint and Joe Bryan in the transfer market, and with the departing trio being crucial to their form in the 2017/18 season where they fared so well to reach the League Cup semi-final, this season looked like it could be a tough one. However, Lee Johnson has rallied his side and after putting together a 13 game unbeaten run in the Championship they’re in with a promotion shout.
The Robins are in a great position at the moment. They currently sit in a respectable 5th place and are on course for a playoff place. However, none of that would be possible without Brownhill. The 23-year-old has missed just one game this season in the Championship and has been the man in the middle keeping things ticking over. Once again the young Englishman was sublime yesterday and he very nearly helped his side find an equaliser against Wolves as he continues to impress.

Unreal performance today, Josh-boy. Best player on the pitch against a team of superstars

Get the nailed on pen and it could have been a different outcome. When we play quick and progressive it’s like watching a different team. Excellent 2nd half showing we can compete at the very highest level when we do the former… no more slow starts please ears!!!

The Robins cannot get enough of Brownhill and will be desperate for him to stick around and avoid following the likes of Reid, Bryan and Flint out of the club.
