Bristol City: Fans tell Ian Wright to dust off boots amid striker dilemma

Bristol City: Fans tell Ian Wright to dust off boots amid striker dilemma - Championship

Many Bristol City fans have told Arsenal legend Ian Wright to get his boots on and play for the club after he tweeted the club account.

The Premier League legend tweeted the Bristol City account saying “can you follow me back so I can arrange my trip down. Spoke to the gaffer earlier”.

Unsurprisingly – given Bristol City’s striker problem following Benik Afobe’s injury – many fans were responding to the striker telling him to play for the Robins.

Afobe joined the club on a season-long loan from Stoke but unfortunately fell victim to a very serious knee injury while training for the club.

The 26-year-old helped the club get off to an impressive start, scoring three goals in five games for City, but now they will have to deal without as the attacker is likely to miss the rest of the season (per the BBC).

With Famara Diedhiou, Andreas Weimann, Niclas Eliasson and Antoine Semenyo the alternatives, Ian Wright’s tweet spurred fans on to try and get him to play in the West Country.

Here are some of the responses below…
