Bristol City fans have responded with glee to the news that they have beaten Derby County 2-1 in their own backyard.
The Robins have pushed themselves into the top six after their second win in as many games.
City took the lead in the 16th minute when former Derby player Andreas Weimann smartly finished past ‘keeper Kelle Roos. One became two just before half-time, again involving Weimann, when he dummied Jack Hunt’s cross before Josh Brownhill swept the ball home.
Despite Bristol City conceding possession for much of the second-half, chances were few and far between for the Rams, however, hearts were in mouths in the away end after Jack Marriott superbly finished with five minutes to go.
However, it was meant to be for Bristol City, as they held out to take the three points back to the West Country.
This is three games on the bounce now that they have gone unbeaten, and this also was the first defeat for Derby County boss Phillip Cocu.
Stats wise, Bristol City took a fair battering, however, that could potentially be explained by them being happy to play without the ball after going 2-0 up. Derby had 67 per cent possession, had 18 shots to City’s eight, eight corners to City’s none; though Derby only had one more shot on target with four to three (BBC Sport).
That is the last thing on the mind of Bristol City fans, though, if Twitter is anything to go by. The red side of Bristol seemed elated both with the points and the team’s performance, even if they did have to bare 45 minutes of stress.

Great game management. Thought we were so comfortable with the 2-0 lead and they had one chance which was unstoppable. Not a great spectacle but a Great 3 points away from home!
