Charlton fans have expressed their delight after seeing that Adam Matthews has joined the club on a one-year deal.
The club announced via Twitter that the new player has joined the club. He is the Addicks’ 15th signing of the summer.
The 27-year-old had been training with Charlton in recent weeks, according to Richard Cawley from the South London Press, and it will be the club’s final business before the January transfer window.
Matthews has been available as a free agent after he was released by Sunderland at the end of last season.
He featured 23 times in League One last season, weighing in with one goal and five assists, as per Transfermarkt.
Matthews joins a club in a rich vein of form; Charlton have been one of the surprise packages in the EFL this season and have gotten off to a flyer. The club currently sit in second place in the division after four wins and two draws this campaign.
Charlton fans responded very positively on Twitter to the news, with many fans even thinking this could be a signal of promotion for next season.
