Charlton Athletic: Fans remember classic away day from 18 years ago

Many Charlton fans have responded to a memory from 18 years ago when the club managed to turn over Arsenal 4-2 in their own backyard.

The Addicks travelled to Highbury on November 4, 2001, only to return with all three points to the surprise of many.

Where will Conor Gallagher be playing his football next season?

The official Charlton Athletic Twitter account reminded their fans of the result from the match and also tweeted a video of the pick of the goals – an absolutely perfect chip from an angle seemingly impossible to score from by Claus Jensen.

Unsurprisingly, many Charlton fans loved to see a video of such a classical moment for the club. In that 2001/02 Premier League season, the club managed to finish 14th in the Premier League (Flashscore). To make it even more impressive, Arsenal ran away as clear champions that season, finishing seven points clear and losing just three matches.

Steve Brown, Claus Jensen, Jason Euell as well as a Richard Wright own goal, all contributed for Charlton, while Thierry Henry scored twice in reply.
