Our Derby County fans here in the Transfer Tavern have been in reflective mood of late with this season not exactly going how they thought it would.
Indeed, many thought that the Rams would at least be challenging for the play-offs this season but thanks to another ill-fated spell under Steve McClaren, they’ve had to watch on as other sides go for the top six.
Hope, however, hasn’t completely gone for the club with Gary Rowett now in charge and so next season may see them earn promotion to the Premier League.
In the meantime, though, thoughts have to be on getting the squad to be as strong as possible and it appears that new contracts have been sealed for Darren Bent and Chris Baird.
The news, though, has come as a bit of a surprise concerning the former at least, with him derided in many quarters – something Bent has picked up on.
Here, then, is his reaction to the Rams’ news:
CONTRACTS: #DCFC are to exercise the one-year options in Chris Baird & @DarrenBent’s current deals.
