It has been a truly terrible year to be a Huddersfield Town supporter, hasn’t it?
After witnessing their side win just three games in the Premier League during the 2018/19 campaign and finish 20 points adrift of safety, a return to the Championship in August may be viewed by some as an attractive proposition.
Although it is fair to say that the Terriers did show some glimmers of promise towards the end of the season, Jan Siewert still has a mammoth job on his hands to transform the club’s fortunes.
With the overwhelming majority of his squad not being anywhere near good enough for second-tier football, the German will be looking to bring in a number of new additions this summer.
Yet despite the attacking areas needing to be significantly improved over the coming months, Siewert must first prioritise finding a sufficient replacement for goalkeeper Jonas Lossl who will be leaving Huddersfield when his contract expires in June (via BBC Sport).
Having already been linked with several different shot-stoppers this month, it is clear that they should go all-out to try and bring in one of the most exciting prospects in Italian football.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the Terriers are one of a number of clubs who are reportedly interested in signing Fiorentina goalkeeper Bartlomiej Dragowski when the transfer window opens in July.
An outstanding young talent, the Poland under-21 international has been simply stunning since joining Empoli on a short-term loan deal in January with his performances against Atalanta and Sassuolo capturing the attention of potential suitors from across Europe.
By convincing the £1.35m-rated ace (via Transfermarkt) to make the move to the John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield would be pulling off a real coup as he has the potential to become a fantastic player over the coming years.
However, if Siewert is indeed considering a move for Dragowski, he must act quickly to avoid the possibility of a potential bidding war with Southampton and Parma for the keeper.
What do you think Terriers fans? Should Siewert splash the cash to bring Dragowski to the John Smith’s Stadium? Could the Polish keeper lead you to success next season? Get in touch below.
