Ipswich Town fans on Twitter vow for swift return after Championship relegation - Championship

Ipswich Town had been the club to spend the most amount of time without a promotion or relegation in the EFL outside of the Premier League until yesterday. Seventeen years of Championship football came to an end as they drew 1-1 with Birmingham City, and next season they’ll be playing football in League One.

Paul Lambert will be gutted to have a Championship relegation on his CV now, but if he stays with the club then he could be the man to bring them back to the second tier of English football one day. Norwich City fans may be basking in the news of Ipswich’s relegation as they march towards promotion, but the Tractor Boys have faith that they’ll be back in the second tier soon enough.

It looks like Bolton Wanderers will soon be joining the East Anglian side in dropping down to League One, yet the final side to be joining them is still up for debate. Lambert and co won’t care about those dropping down with them, though, and will be keen to start preparing for next season. The fans will just want to go back to winning games on a regular basis again and will hope to make a quick to return to the Championship next season.
