Leeds United’s quest for automatic promotion took a small dent this weekend as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nottingham Forest.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men have been in superb form throughout the season, and despite the draw, still look to be one of the favourites to win promotion to the Premier League and return to the top flight after a 15 year hiatus.
However, if the club are promoted, they will need to add some quality to the ranks, and although it might be a long way off, there’s no harm in speculating over what sort of player the Whites might want to splash out on should they win promotion.
Indeed, one position we at the Tavern think could be added too is at left back, where despite Barry Douglas impressing, Leeds would need more options.
That’s why we think signing Swedish left back Ludwig Augustinsson could be a shrewd move for the club, with the Werder Bremen star valued at a steady £10.8m.
Augustinsson has really developed into one of the most consistent performers in the Bundesliga, and while not the most glamorous signing, he does possess quality, something Leeds will need if promotion is achieved.
At just 24, Augustinsson already has some 21 caps for his country, and that number will only increase with a move to a top club in the Premier League.
Leeds would be an ideal destination, while his signing would give the club two solid left backs to call upon.
Leeds fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
