Leeds United will be looking to have a better showing next season, and the fans in the Transfer Tavern will be demanding that the club make the required changes to ensure that happens.
The Whites started the campaign in fine fashion, making them early favourites to win promotion to the promised land, however, the locals saw their club collapse after their first defeat. The Elland Road outfit could not stop the rot, which led to the departure of Thomas Christiansen, although new boss Paul Heckingbottom has not fared much better.
The punters in the bar will be expecting a number of arrivals in the summer, as well as departures, to ensure they can try and compete for a place in the Premier League – however, one man has revealed his future at the club remains unclear.
Speaking to Swedish media outlet FotbollSkanalen, Marcus Antonsson has stated that he is unsure of where he will be after his season-long loan with Blackburn Rovers. The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in his 32 games for the League One side, but found it difficult at Elland Road in his first year.
When asked about his future, he told FotbollSkanalen: ‘I really do not know.
‘I have told my agent that I want to finish the season here first. I only know that I have one year left for the deal with Leeds, and that’s what I’m talking about.
‘If something else pops up, you can get it from there. We have not yet talked to them yet. I know that those discussions will come here [Blackburn] in the future. They have not begun either.’
And these potentially significant comments are likely to interest Leeds fans, with it looking likely that the 26-year-old’s time at Elland Road will be at an end come the summer.
Landlord’s Verdict: The Leeds fans in the Tavern will feel that the Swedish attacker no longer has a future at the club, and will be wanting their side to try and find someone who can finally give them the goals they want to challenge for the top-flight.
