Leeds United are yet to taste defeat under Marcelo Bielsa’s leadership.
Bielsa became the highest paid manager in Leeds history this summer and arrived at Elland Road with a glistening reputation. The Argentine had managed both Argentina and Chile’s national team as well as teams in the French and Spanish leagues. Following an excellent start to life in the Championship, Leeds have been tipped for promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds currently sit top of the Championship table and are yet to be defeated under the Argentine’s guidance. Despite their impressive form, the Whites have been left with a shortage of quality options up front. Patrick Bamford will be sidelined for the foreseeable future with a knee injury while Kemar Roofe is also out of action with a calf problem.
One man Leeds United should be keeping tabs on is Serbian forward – Aleksandar Pesic. Valued at £2.7m by Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old has played his trade all across the world despite his age. After spells with Toulouse and Atalanta, Pesic’s best form came at Red Star Belgrade, where he netted an extraordinary 29 goals in all competitions. It wasn’t only his goalscoring exploits that caught the eye with the forward also racking up 21 assists for his team-mates.
The forward was snapped up by Saudi side – Al-Ittihad – in the summer as a result of his excellent showings. If his form continues, Leeds should attempt to lure him to Elland Road in January. Pesic would offer Bielsa another top option up front that could fire them to promotion.
If he can replicate the form he showed in his homeland, Leeds could grab themselves the bargain of the window.
