As we get to the midpoint of the season, Leeds have somehow managed to stay in the title race despite picking up a multitude of injuries over the course of the season.
Due to the amount of injuries, Bielsa has had to use the Thorp Arch graduates to supplement the first-team squad. While most of the academy players have performed well, Bielsa needs owner, Andrea Radrizzani to reinvest into the squad in January in order to keep their title hunt alive.
Leeds need reinforcements on the wing, up front, and at the back. While they need some new recruits, they also need to make sure they don’t lose some of their best players as according to Football Insider, Leeds are currently delaying contract negotiations between them and star players, Kalvin Phillips and Kemar Roofe.
Leeds have been in contract talks with the two players since the start of the season and need to sign them up to new deals before it’s too late. Both players have been outstanding this season and have developed massively under Bielsa.
Phillips has turned into a steady performer and is playing like one of the most experienced players in the team despite his age. Although his contract runs out in 2021, due to his solid season Leeds need to tie him down to a new deal.
Roofe likewise has become one of the best players in the side. The forward’s current deal runs out in 18 months and the club need to do all they can to keep him at the club or they could lose him in the summer.
