‘£5m on his price tag’ – Leeds United fans on Twitter react to lynchpin’s news

The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to the news that Swedish defender, Pontus Jansson has been given the captain’s armband for his countries visit to the Stadionul Ion Oblemenco as Sweden face Romania tonight in an international friendly. Jansson and co will be hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Chile as they look to gain momentum ahead of the World Cup.

The local Leeds fans propping our bar up are delighted for Jansson on his big moment, although they’re questioning why the international doesn’t have more experience as a captain from his stay at Elland Road. The Whites pointed out that they’d much rather see Pontus Jansson wearing the armband for the Yorkshire club ahead of current captain, Liam Cooper.

A change of captaincy might not go amiss at Leeds United at the moment. The club are currently enduring a torrid year, having won only a single game in 2018 and falling from a place in the playoffs to the bottom half of the Championship in 14th. It would be a fair assessment to say Leeds mid-season implosion has cost them any hope of promotion they had at the start of the season, or even at Christmas.
