Bettinelli would be a serious coup for Leeds United

Leeds United have made the perfect start to life under Marcelo Bielsa.

The Whites were given a tricky opening day fixture against recently relegated Stoke City but passed their first test of the season with flying colours. A 3-1 victory against the Potters was a sign of things to come as Leeds also downed Frank Lampard’s Derby County 4-1 at Pride Park. Bielsa continued his impressive start with a 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers to progress to the next round of the Carabao Cup.

The Argentine can still strengthen his squad until the end of August despite the transfer window closing last week. EFL clubs can bring in loan players and Leeds would be wise to add to their squad. One man they should consider signing is Fulham goalkeeper – Marcus Bettinelli.

Valued at £2.7m by Transfermarkt, the 26-year-old was a key player for the Cottagers last season as they finally earned promotion back to the Premier League via the playoffs. Bettinelli made 26 Championship appearances and kept 12 clean sheets in the process. Despite his impressive performances, Fulham signed Fenerbache ‘keeper, Fabri, as well as Sevilla’s Sergio Rico as their new number one. As a result, the Englishman is considering his future at the club. Leeds should take advantage and bring him to Elland Road.

Bettinelli has vast amounts of experience in the Championship which could benefit both Leed’s current goalkeepers. Jamal Blackman and Bailey Peacock-Farrell are both young and adding another experienced shot-stopper could do wonders for their development. The Englishman would give Bielsa another quality option as he looks to secure promotion back to the Premier League.

A loan deal with the option to buy would be a great move by the Whites.
