Leeds United will be desperate to mount an unassailable lead at the top of the Championship table, with promotion to the Premier League in their own hands.
The Whites failed to secure a positive result last time out as they were beaten 2-1 away from home by Nathan Jones’ Stoke City, in what was a very disappointing performances from Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
However, Leeds United will travel to the New York Stadium later on today to face Rotherham United in their next Championship fixture. The Millers have lost their last three games in all competitions, so the Whites will be looking to make that four losses by putting in a dominant performance.
Of course, with all the ‘spygate’ controversy still not quite buried, Bielsa will be relying on these TWO Leeds stars to do the talking on the field today…
Kalvin Phillips missed the Whites’ last game due to suspension after being sent off against Nottingham Forest on New Year’s Day at the City Ground. But, he will be back in the side later on today (as per the Yorkshire Evening Post) to replace Pontus Jansson at the heart of the defence.
The Englishman’s leadership qualities and no-nonsense defending will prove crucial in Jansson’s absence, with a dominant performance helping Leeds secure what should be a straightforward win.
Pablo Hernandez has been one of the standout performers in the current campaign for the Whites, with a very respectable seven goals and 10 assists to his name at this moment in time.
The Spaniard played a big part against Stoke City last time out, despite Leeds losing 2-1, as he made some dangerous runs into the box and a couple of his deliveries would have been turned into the net on another day.
So, his creativity could prove to be the difference at the New York Stadium later on today, with Kemar Roofe thriving off the experienced winger’s delivery up until this point.
