With Leeds United on course for Premier League promotion, manager Marcelo Bielsa will be keen to keep his squad intact this month.
However, that could be difficult with players such as Jack Clarke continuing to attract interest from clubs in English football’s top flight.
According to the Daily Mirror, Southampton are the latest Premier League outfit Clarke has alerted following some stellar performances, though Leeds are said to have told the Saints among others that the 18-year-old is not for sale.
With the sort of money Premier League clubs now have, though, and a lot of time left in the transfer window, that stance could quickly change.
Leeds, however, would be wise to stick to their guns with promotion on the cards for the club. With it being so tight at the top of the Championship, they cannot afford to lose players who are bringing so much to the team, something which Clarke has been doing.
The Leeds youth product has been a menace down the flank of late, breezing past defenders before putting dangerous balls into the box with his display in a recent 2-0 win over Derby County the latest showing.
Losing Clarke now could have some serious ramifications for Leeds in their quest for Premier League promotion. Thankfully for supporters, though, that is a development that looks a long way off.
